Hermitage of Christ of the Agony
(Ermita del Crist de l’Agonia)
The hermitage of Antella is a hermitage dedicated to the Holy Christ of the Agony, since according to tradition, the fifth baron of Antella, Vicent Castellví, saw the Christ appear in the palace chapel and told him to place his image in the hermitage which had to be built at the foot of the mountain.
We find the Hermitage of Christ of the Agony (Ermita del Crist de l’Agonia) in the lap of the Creueta Alta mountain, in the highest part of Antella, next to the municipal schools. Through carrer San Vicente, which runs through all of Antella, we can reach the Hermitage of Christ of the Agony (Ermita del Crist de l’Agonia), which is renamed carrer del Calvari.
There, we find a beautiful stepped promenade and Gothic-style Way of the Cross chapels on both sides, built with red facing tiles on which tiled altarpieces with the seasons were placed, and protected by a metal mesh frame. At the end of the promenade, and in front of the chapels of the Way of the Cross, is the chapel, known as the Hermitage of Christ of Calvary (Ermita del Crist del Calvari).
